Enter Stage Left and Cue the Bright Lights for Bella!

Bella Takes the Spotlight in the Third Star Sisterz Book

The dares just keep coming in the fantastic Star Sisterz series, and this time it's Bella DeLuca at the center of a mystery! When a strange message flashes across the cash register screen while she's working in her dad's store, Bella discovers that the whole world is a stage and everyone plays a part. So, what will Bella's role be?

Wizards of the Coast: So, Bella, that wild message you got: Fess up! Tell a friend your secret fear. Where do you think it came from??

Bella: It was a wild message. I don't know where it came from, maybe I'll never know, but I'm so glad it happened to me. You know, I did see this woman at the bakery. She had an amazing charm bracelet and it made me wonder if the same thing had happened to other people.

Wizards: Your dad's a baker, your mom's a food scientist . . . so, did you think your passion in life might be centered around food instead of acting?

Bella: I love my dad's white chocolate coconut cookies, and my mom can whip up a healthy dinner just like that, but I don't think food is my passion. I have a passion for fashion, among other things. My dad and I say that I'm just "trying things on to see if they fit." So far, acting is the best fit, and who knows where it will lead? Maybe even to Hollywood one day.

Wizards: Well, you certainly have an amazing fashion sense to go with that passion! We get to see quite a bit of your wardrobe in Bright Lights for Bella! You have lots of cool stuff!

Bella: Thanks for admiring my wardrobe. The perfect outfit makes me feel more me. I don't want to be a fashion clone.

Wizards: So, let me give you some situations, and you tell me the perfect outfit, okay? How about . . . traveling by airplane?

Bella: Something that won't set off the metal detector at the airport. Something that won't wrinkle. I'd probably go for the preppy look, khaki pants and a cute little polo, with a sweater in case it gets cold.

Wizards: Okay, how about a Saturday afternoon at the mall with friends?

Bella: A day at the mall means the right shoes because I'll be walking around shopping all day, so I'd suggest comfortable, but not new, shoes. Right now, I'm into my pink-and-black deck shoes, and I'd wear my black mini, tights, and maybe a T-shirt or sweater, but that could change tomorrow.

Wizards: What if you were going to a school play?

Bella: A school play is an occasion to dress to impress. I'm into the Victorian-inspired look right now, so I'd wear my velvet blazer, a ruffly white shirt, and my long black skirt. And I'd layer on the pearls.

Wizards: And what about on a first date?

Bella: GULP! Wow. I'd definitely need something sweat-proof, especially if my first date was with Seth Chavez. And I think the most important thing about fashion, especially date fashion, is not to look like you're trying too hard. First dates are likely to be dinner and a movie or something equally low-key, so I'd wear my favorite jeans that fit just right, comfortable, but cute shoes, and my shirt with the violets on it. For me, I'd definitely avoid wearing white on the first date. I'd be nervous and therefore more likely to spill something.

Wizards: You mention something very casually in your book about your locker partner, the mysterious Kali Delgado. I'm just curious if you know anything more about her yet?

Bella: I'm curious too! Rani and I are both dying to know who she is. She's definitely a mystery girl. I mean, I share a locker with her and I've NEVER seen her? Weird.

Wizards: Your best friend, Rani, has a book coming up too -- Rani and the Fashion Divas -- in just a few months. Do the two of you still hang around together, compare stories, that sort of thing?

Bella: Rani and I are bffs (best friends forever), so of course, we hang around together! Rani knows all about my strange challenge. We've been talking about what we think will happen next! I just found out I'm going to be traveling soon (it's very hush-hush, I can't say a word right now), and Rani and I will be two thousand miles apart for a whole week. I'm not sure I'll be able to make it through an entire week without Rani.

Wizards: What was it like working with Lana Perez to get Bright Lights for Bella ready for people?

Bella: Lana's pretty cool! She told me she has a daughter who has a lot in common with me. Lana told me most days she wears her pajamas when she's writing. Can you imagine?? Needless to say, she needed a little help in the fashion department, so I took her shopping and we found her some really cute stuff. And she likes the same cookies that I do: white chocolate coconut cookies from DeLuca Bakery. The cookies kept mysteriously "disappearing." I like her, even though she did snarf my favorite cookies.
