Valor

Valor
Both the meek and the brave can wake to Valor if the cause is great and true. The valorous have fire in their hearts and brimstone in their liver, but they are not unthinking brutes. Valor holds tight to sword or pistol in one hand, and strategy in the other. Only then does bold heroism rule the warrior's chest.

Those who walk in Valor may equitably be compared with lions, leopards, eagles, and dragons; only those struck with craven terror fail to grasp that similarity. For, just as the grizzly shields her cubs, and the dragon defends its hoard, the valorous take the field to protect what is most precious to them: an awe-inspiring king, a breath-taking ideal, a fantastic treasure, or a god of world-shaking power.

Other Aspects

Passion
Passion charges the field without subtlety and without a plan; the passionate are unrestricted by orders and untethered by ideals. They expend all their energies in an unfocused, often multidimensional, assault, which wastes energy and saps strength. If those who fought beneath Passion's banner consistently focused on a single goal or held to an agreed-upon strategy, they would be a potent force, coming near to matching the valorous. While the anger, fury, lust, and primal violence that fires the passionate gives the illusion of unbridled power, their lack of discipline, order, and ability to follow the commands of the competent ensures that all their short-term victories will eventually be swept away in history's tide.

Madness
Madness stems from the search for dreamborn knowledge at any price, regardless of whether that price is paid by others or the cost must be debited in units of sanity. The undiluted answers that lie behind the mind and past lucidity are too soul-shattering for a mortal mind to contain, even when sleeping. Wrecked minds fall most easily into Madness, and Madness wrecks minds, creating a spiral that spells ultimate ruin. As the aspect through which all dream's secrets might be laid bare, no matter how ultimately horrifying, Madness breaks too many rules. It is generally an unfit weapon, and if employed, those who do so often begin to care too little for whom their efforts harm, least of all, themselves.

Fear
Fear is anathema.

The valorous disdain the fearmongers for the timidity and dismay they strain so fruitlessly to inspire. Tactics that arouse cold feet and cold sweats, cowardice, and creeping despair are the last, least weapon of a failed strategy. Far better are ideals that embolden hearts and kindle minds. Success follows from a boldly executed plan, a stunning defense, and a display of inordinate bravery in the face of long odds. Confidence that comes from a foundation of martial prowess and military discipline eventually cows even those who attack in greater numbers, or those who attack with allies of horrifying aspect, soon enough turning the fortunes of battle to the valiant.

Those who employ Fear as a weapon are also prone to experiencing that unmanning emotion, often at the least provocation. Because fearmongers must traverse the dim plains of disquietude to earn their craft, they are fragile, uneasy, and given to doubts. Such qualities will never find an ally in Valor.
