Wizards of the Coast to Co-Sponsor Gen Con Indy 2009

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Best Four Days In Gaming Never Looked Better

INDIANAPOLIS (April 7, 2009) Gen Con is pleased to announce that true to tradition, Wizards of the Coast will again be a Co-Sponsor of the largest hobby gaming convention in North America. Fans come from around the world to attend Gen Con Indy and Wizards of the Coast is an integral part of the industry and that experience. This year Wizards of the Coast will be debuting new products, showcasing classics as well as hosting many popular tournaments thousands of fans have come to enjoy.

“We are so pleased to have Wizards of the Coast once again be a sponsor of Gen Con. Their long history with the show, as well as the popularity of their products makes Wizards a really important part of our show, and for many attendees the entire Gen Con experience,” said Adrian Swartout, CEO of Gen Con.

This year, Wizards will be celebrating the 25th Anniversary of Dragonlance® with a new book from Margaret Weis & Tracy Hickman entitled Dragons of the Hourglass Mage, The Lost Chronicles Volume 3. Margaret and Tracy will be on site for autographs and a special anniversary party. Wizards will also be celebrating the newly released D&D® 4th Edition Monster Manual® 2 and Players Handbook® 2 as well as other 4th Edition accessories.

Also, a limited number of Magic: The Gathering® From the Vault: Exiled™ will be available for purchase prior to the August 28th release. The release contains fifteen Magic: The Gathering cards so potent, they were banned or restricted from the known realms of competition. Only 100 copies will be available each day at Gen Con. In addition, there will be plenty of D&D and Magic™ game play in the Sagamore Ballroom and Hall F, respectively. A full schedule of seminars and special guests are also planned.

“Wizards of the Coast is proud to be a co-sponsor of Gen Con in 2009,” said Greg Leeds, President of Wizards of the Coast. “Wizards is passionate about delivering fantastic games and building the hobby gaming community. Gen Con is a perfect place to do this.”

Celebrating its 42nd year and going strong, Gen Con is no ordinary convention. Attendees do everything from browsing the aisles of the exhibit hall packed with over 250 booths to taking part in any number of the 5,500 gaming events happening 24 hours a day over the four days. Gaming activities range from interactive game play to video/computer gaming and from classic board games to big money hobby-related tournament. There is something for everyone at Gen Con.
