Christie Golden is the award-winning author of twenty-seven novels and over a dozen short stories in the fields of fantasy, science fiction, and horror. Vampire of the Mists was her first novel, launching both her career and the Ravenloft novel line in 1991. Vampire introduced the popular vampire elf Jander Sunstar, one of Golden’s favorite characters, and she couldn’t be more pleased with the reissue.
Two more Ravenloft novels followed, Dance of the Dead and The Enemy Within. Over the next few years, Golden wrote three original fantasy novels, Instrument of Fate, King’s Man, and Thief, and, in 1991, A.D. 999, written under the pen name of Jadrien Bell. A.D. 999 won the Colorado Author’s League Top Hand Award for Best Genre Novel of 1999. Her original fantasy series, The Final Dance, is being released through Luna Books. The first two, On Fire’s Wings and In Stone’s Clasp, have appeared in trade paperback and will soon be released in mass market.
Golden is also kept busy with various tie-in projects. To date, she’s written well over a dozen novels for various incarnations of Star Trek, and has been entrusted with the “relaunch” of Star Trek: Voyager after that show ended its run on television. She’s also written for Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel anthologies and written novels based on Steven Spielberg’s Invasion America animated television show. One of her proudest moments came when well-known film producer and screenwriter Harve Bennett was so impressed with her Invasion America work that he invited her to Hollywood to write for the show. Unfortunately, the show was not renewed for a second season.
In 1999 Golden wrote Lord of the Clans, a novel based on the Warcraft gaming world. She has since become an avid player of the game and is now working on another Warcraft novel, Rise of the Horde, as well as a trilogy set in the Starcraft universe. Readers are invited to visit her website.
